Mainstream Theatre Arts — 30 years of working with young people in the performing arts in the Greater Manchester area.
Learn more about:
With a mission to make performing arts more accessible to children and young people, MTA was launched in 1981 in Denton, Tameside, Greater Manchester.
In its own schools, MTA provides a range of classes and training programmes for recreation, education and vocational aims. It has exciting and engaging classes in drama and acting techniques, singing, musical theatre and dance.
All disciplines taught offer optional nationally-recognised qualifications at all levels from absolute beginners up to private teacher status, with each syllabus providing an excellent foundation for further and higher education.
To support its performing arts teaching, MTA regularly stages productions including straight drama, pantomime, musical theatre and dance shows which all members can take part in to utilise their skills before an audience.
A large part of the company is dedicated to services for schools. MTA supplies and manages its highly-skilled team of specialist teachers and industry professionals to deliver a wide variety of performing arts classes for enrichment, PPA, Extended Schools and holiday clubs for primary schools in Greater Manchester, Cheshire and throughout the north west.
Furthermore, MTA’s in-house writers, directors and professional actors regularly devise and deliver bespoke programmes of theatre-in-education (TIE) and health education plays and workshops to teach important subjects in both primary and secondary schools.
MTA continues to expand. 2011 will see the launch of a new youth theatre company.
The company has helped many thousands of young people to experience and embrace the arts and contributed to many professional careers. Now, in the 21st century, MTA still strives to offer the very best opportunities at exceptionally low costs.
