Is your school applying for or thinking of applying for Artsmark at any level? Mainstream Theatre Arts can make a large contribution towards helping you fulfil the main criteria to qualify.
> an overarching policy for the arts
MTA's involvement with your school can provide the core of an integrated arts policy throughout the school.
> opportunities for all pupils to participate in all artforms within curriculum time
MTA's weekly curricular classes in drama, dance, music and musical theatre can be targeted at specific year groups or at the whole school, covering practical elements of the National Curriculum and more in each subject. Our teachers are experienced and used to working without supervision, so our performing arts classes can, if you wish, double as PPA cover.
> regular out of hours opportunities for all pupils
Many of the schools that have our curricular classes extend the school day with one of our after-school clubs, allowing pupils with a particular interest in the arts to explore them in a fun and friendly environment. We can also arrange holiday clubs, ranging from days of classes to a whole week of workshops and rehearsals ending in a performance for families and friends to attend.
> continuing professional development opportunities in the arts for teachers
Our specialist teachers can provide advice, training or simply an opportunity to observe what they do to help regular school teachers improve their skills in teaching the arts as discreet subjects or to use them as exciting teaching methods in other areas of the curriculum. We can also provide training, advice and assistance with school productions.
> sharing achievements in the arts within the school and with the wider community
The sharing of work is an integral component of every class that we teach. Work is also shared outside the classroom regularly with performances in assemblies or after school that either use skills and pieces learned in classes and after-school clubs or are produced and directed by MTA teachers. Many of our holiday clubs also feature performances that friends and family may be invited to see.
> links with artists and arts organisations
Involvement with MTA will automatically forge a link with a leading north west arts education organisation with a staff of talented artists, teachers, technicians and other support staff.
