Wilmslow summer school a smash hit

MTA's summer school at Lacey Green Primary School in Wilmslow, which ended on Friday 17 August with a spectacular production of Disney's Cinderella, was a great success that all participants and spectators enjoyed greatly and want to repeat.

Leading up to the performance, 23 children aged from 6 to 11 years of age, some who have performed previously and some who had never been on stage before, took part in full-day workshops, dance classes and rehearsals every day for a week.

Although there were some nerves before the performance, by the end the participants agreed that the whole experience was tiring and hard work but was great fun and they had made lots of new friends. There were a number of enquiries about MTA's Saturday classes from parents and quite a few children asked whether the event would be happening again next year.

The single performance was seen by an invited audience of around 80 parents, relatives and friends, who were unanimous in their praise for the production and the achievements of the cast and MTA's staff. Many described the performance as 'professional' and 'brilliant' and were amazed at how the children had learned all of the songs and dialogue in such a short time.

MTA's team consisted of two of the company's most experienced teachers, Natasha Wilde and Nicola Preston, with two young helpers, Darren Kay and Kerry Smith, with expert assistance from Carole Hart on costumes and Pat Prescott on make-up, all under the watchful eye of producer Barry Carr. A full professional sound and lighting rig was installed for the final performance.

Other similar holiday schools are already being planned in different locations during school holidays at different times of the year. Keep an eye on the web site for announcements.
