Performing arts across the curriculum
Drama, dance and singing can be skills taught in class, skills demonstrated during a performance or alternative ways of learning other important topics or dealing with important issues.
Our normal classes cover a wide range of skills, but if there is something specific you want us to help you with using our methods for a short project or over a longer period, please contact us and we will tell you what we can do for you.
A huge range of possible projects
Special projects could be anything at all that utilises the performing arts in schools. In the past we have been involved with devising and running the following types of projects:
- 'Dance days' or 'drama days', when a whole day or half a day is devoted to a single group of pupils learning skills in dance or drama.
- Devising, when our teachers spend one or more days in a school to lead improvisation and devising sessions around a theme that will be later developed by teachers into a school production.
- A series of linked classes created in collaboration with regular class teachers to help with literacy or another topic using drama techniques.
- Assistance with rehearsals or performances for a school show.
- Projects involving drama in other school subjects, such as maths, history or English.
Set us a challenge...
Just tell us what you want to achieve, whether it is related to an actual performance or to other work that you think may be enhanced by our methods and skills, and we will advise you how our performing arts experts can be of service to you. Whether you have a fully-formed plan or just a vague idea of a project, we can help you at every stage to plan and deliver it.
We can devise projects ourselves from your brief and deliver them, or we can collaborate closely with your own teachers for projects that need to tie in with other work that they are doing.
We are always open to new suggestions or challenges, so if there is any way that you think your school may benefit from our specialist performing arts teachers and practitioners either to teach performance skills or to use the performing arts to teach other skills or subjects, please contact us to discuss your ideas.
